January 2012

In January we got snow.  Lots of snow.
Snowy tree at our house.

Evan and Isaac in the snow at home.

Poor Casey was out of town during our little blizzard so the boys, Brewster and I headed over to Grandma and Papa's house for a few days.  They have gas heat in case the power goes out and let's face it, they have the best comfort food and snacks!

Getting the boys dressed to go outside in the snow is torture!  It takes forever and gloves at this age are next to impossible to keep on.  All of that hard work for about a half hour of play time.  Because by then they are cold and wanting hot chocolate.  Then the process of undressing and laying out wet clothes to dry.  Thank goodness it only happens a couple times a year!

Evan excited to be outside!
Sledding was SO much fun for the boys.  Sledding was SO exhausting for the adults!  So many times up and down the hill, asking to be carried, pushed, and pulled. Tylenol please.

Check out Grandma and Papa blazing a new trail for the boys!  They thought this was pretty funny!

After heading inside to warm up it was nice to play some games on their LeapPads.  Yes, the earth stood still for a moment while my boys played quietly [insert heavenly ray of sunshine]!  It is so cute to watch them encourage one another and try to help them with their games.

Remember the comment about good snacks at Grandma and Papa's house.  Those snacks include banana splits!  Anything with whipped cream on it is good - add ice cream and you have 3 happy little boys!

It is hard to keep 3 little boys entertained and off of the ceiling fan during the winter.  One of their favorite activities is playing board games.  As I mentioned in my last post that there is a special place in heaven for people who like to cook with their kids, there is also a special place for people who like to play board games with kids.  Casey, you have earned your spot many times over.  He is such a champ - playing 3-4 different board games in a row while I make dinner...alone.

And when all else fails we just go outside in the cold!  One of our favorite things to do is hiking at the State Park by our house.  We always park in front of this tree.  I tell the boys to stand on it so I can take their picture. I desperately try to get at least 2 of them looking at me then I fear them falling out of the tree as they start to mess around and wonder why I asked them to climb up there in the first place.  Then I look at the picture later and remember.  Aren't they cute?
